About the company

Unilever, a global fast-moving consumer goods company, expands in Katowice with its successful UltraLogistik organization and plans to create a new financial services unit. As a result of the growing activity and fast development, the British-Dutch firm will relocate some departments to a new office.

It is scheduled that Unilever will move into the new seat in January 2013. A name of the office building and the amount of leased office space stay confidential for the present. “A necessity of finding a new location in Katowice was mostly connected with the expansion of UltraLogistik, which is our own internal transport management organization, and it does not have enough space to accommodate any new staff in the present office. UltraLogistik currently employs 160 people and we expect the number will be increased in the nearest future as the organization is very successful at fulfilling the tasks” – says Anna Kozerska, Communication Director at Unilever Poland. Employees of supply chain and financial departments will also be moved to the new seat.

UltraLogistik’s Transport Operations Center was launched in Katowice in 2008. It manages Unilever’s transport movements by finding the most efficient ways to move raw materials and packaging to the company’s factories and then transport finished goods to around 300 warehouses in Europe. Additionally, the office will most likely house a new Financial Services Center being currently planned by the company. “If our plan succeeds, the Center employees will be responsible for so called custom financial operations, e.g. accounting that requires complex analysis and decision-making processes in place of automatic accounting methods” – Anna Kozerska explains. Within the framework of the Center’s planning proceedings, Unilever has already published job offers.

In Katowice, Unilever has 816 employees of which almost 650 are hired in a factory (including the office workers) located at 2 Kołodziejska St. The plant consists of margarine and tea production departments. Here Unilever produces the world’s oldest brand margarine - “Rama”. The company employs 3 400 people across Poland in four locations: Katowice, Poznań, Bydgoszcz and Banino near Gdańsk.

Unilever has more than 400 brands, 12 of which generate sales in excess of EUR 1 billion a year. This British–Dutch multinational company produces foods, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products. Its world-leading brands including Lipton, Knorr, Dove, Axe, Hellmann’s and Omo. Unilever’s history dates back to the 1890s. It has 171 000 employees worldwide.
