Today, ENERGA Group is one of the four largest groups of energy companies in Poland (next to PGE, Tauron and Enea) and the leader of the Polish market in terms of the share of renewable energy in own production. The Group’s core activities include the distribution and generation of and trading in electricity. The Group supplies and sells electricity to more than 2.9 million customers, both households and the business sector.
ENERGA Group is the third largest integrated distribution system operator (DSO) in Poland in terms of the volume of energy supplied. Its distribution grid consists of 184,000 km of power lines and covers almost 75 km2, i.e. ca. 24 percent of the area of Poland.
The total installed capacity of the Group’s power plants amounts to 1.36 GW, 41 percent of which (0.56 GW) accounts for renewable energy sources (RES). The Group’s energy sources include baseload power plants, renewable energy sources (RES) and combined heat and power plants (cogeneration – CHP plants). The installed capacity of the Group’s power plants is based on diverse energy sources, such as coal, water, wind and biomass.
ENERGA Group boasts the highest share of renewable energy in own production among all major energy groups operating on the Polish market. Green energy is produced by 46 hydropower plants, three wind farms and biomass incineration facilities.
Furthermore, the activities of the Group include the generation and distribution of and trading in heat. The heat produced by the Group satisfies the demand from the towns and cities in the vicinity of its CHP plants.
